Dates: November 19 & 26, 2025 | Wednesday Evenings | 2 Classes
Times: 6:00PM - 9:00PM
Location: 300 Campbell Avenue, in Unit 115
Instructor: Jonah Strub
This joyful two-week Hanukah handbuilding course with ceramic sculptor Jonah Strub is all about creating your own sculptural Hannukah menorah—from classic to completely unhinged (in the best way).
You’ll explore handbuilding techniques, experiment with balance and structure, and play with surface decoration using underglazes. Whether your menorah ends up traditional, abstract, or shaped like your dachshund, it’ll be a one-of-a-kind celebration piece you’ll actually want to pull out every year.
Class Structure:
Week 1: Wednesday, November 19, 2025
Learn to sculpt animal bodies and use mirrors as reference to add faces to your animal.
Week 2: Wednesday, November 26, 2025
Carve, refine, and smooth your sculptures. Then use underglazes to ornately and colourfully decorate your creation!
Suitable for beginners and beyond, this workshop welcomes all skill levels. No prior experience is necessary - just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!
*To get the most out of the course and to aide the instructor, it is encouraged to arrive with a rough idea of what you want to make, along with basic sketches and/or reference images.
