Dates: December 3 & 10 2025 | Wednesday Evenings | 2 Classes
Times: 6:00PM - 9:00PM
Location: 300 Campbell Avenue, in Unit 115
Instructor: Jonah Strub
This joyful two-week Christmas themed handbuilding workshop with ceramic sculptor Jonah Strub is all about creating your own sculptural Ornament (or as we like to call em, Face-balls) totally unhinged (in the best way).
You’ll explore handbuilding techniques, experiment with balance and structure, and play with surface decoration using underglazes. Whether your ornament ends up as your pet or your portrait, it’ll be a one-of-a-kind celebration piece you’ll actually want to pull out every year.
Class Structure:
Week 1: Wednesday, December 3, 2025
Learn to sculpt human or animal faces and form the entire portrait ball
Week 2: Wednesday, December 10, 2025
Carve, refine, and smooth your sculptures. Then use underglazes to ornately and colourfully decorate your creation!
Suitable for beginners and beyond, this workshop welcomes all skill levels. No prior experience is necessary - just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!
You'll be able to pickup your piece before the Christmas holidays
*To get the most out of the course and to aide the instructor, it is encouraged to arrive with a rough idea of what you want to make, along with basic sketches and/or reference images.
