This six-week handbuilding class with Jonah Strub focuses on building a strong foundation while leaving plenty of room to play. Students can work sculpturally (or not!), developing pieces that feel thoughtful, expressive, and well made.
Jonah will cover pottery fundamentals like how clay dries, how to join parts properly, and what happens during firing. Handbuilding techniques, including pinch, slab, and coil, will be introduced and combined to support more complex forms. Surface decoration will include texture, painting, and glazing.
Classes are structured but flexible, with support for individual projects and encouragement to try things that feel a little ambitious.
All levels welcome.
